Dejah Hall Is A Strong Woman Who Overcame Her Addiction – Her Transformation Is An Inspiration

The effects of drug addiction are ubiquitous. Often, when someone struggling with addiction begins to overcome their disease, the symptoms of recovery manifest in all areas of their life. Dejah Hall, a strong female who overcame her addiction to meth and heroin, is one such example.

Dejah recently decided to share her recovery story in the Facebook group, Sobriety Birthdays, where she was met with phenomenal support and her transformation was celebrated.

Hall struggled with her addiction to methamphetamine and heroin for years. She shared pictures from the most intense period of her drug addiction, and then a series of pictures taken after four years of sobriety.

In a display of brutal honesty and accountability, Dejah bravely recounted who she was at her lowest point: “I was a monster in every way. I didn’t care who I hurt. I didn’t care about anything anymore. I didn’t have anyone else or family to look to at that point.”

A pivotal moment in Dejah’s journey came when her grandfather confided in her that her behavior had damaged their relationship, and hurt him. They had been very close prior to the development of her addiction.

In a painful blow, on the day that Dejah learned she was going to jail for drug possession, her grandfather passed away. The guilt she felt from this confluence of events, in part, compelled her to make a change. Now, years later, Hall regularly visits the grave site with her daughter to thank him for his blunt honesty.

Now, four years later, Hall is a much healthier, happier person: “It was a way for me to say ‘I did it.’ In the top photo I was a bad heroin addict but I thought I was sexy and gorgeous and looking at them, especially the bottom one, I can only see a broken person who has given up.”

Her story has inspired many people, and we collectively thank her for having the courage to share it.
